Body lift kits are performance accessories. All truck body lift kits are designed to fit brand new condition stock vehicles. An experienced installer should do installation of body lift kits but someone with mechanical background and proper equipment can do the job as well.

It is important to know that any vehicle that has been lifted will have a higher center of gravity and this will cause unique handling characteristics to the vehicle. Lifted vehicles handle and react differently in an on road and off road environment.

To install a cheap body lift to your vehicle, it would be best for you to buy and install the truck body lift kits yourself. This procedure is not exactly complex. Doing the job yourself will save you from spending for labor charges. What you should spend on is the body kit because they are intended to carry the whole truck above the frame.

The things that you need for installing the trick body lift kits are automotive jack, half an inch drive socket set, and a polyurethane bushing body lift kit.

Start by setting the truck’s parking brake. Use the half-inch drive socket set to detach the body mounting bolts that you can find on the outside border of the truck’s frame. Next, remove the truck’s front bumper and use the automotive jack to lightly lift the passenger side of the vehicle’s body.

Remove the stock body bushing mounted in between the frame and the body where the mounting bolts are located. Insert the replacement body lift bushing into place. Run the replacement body mounting bolts included with the kit through the mounting holes for the frame bushing and thread them into the body with your fingers.

Do not tighten with the socket set yet. Take out the jack and then repeat the procedure on the driver’s side of the vehicle. Bolt the front bumper repositioning its bracket onto the frame horns located at the front of the truck using a hardware supplied by the kit. When the bracket is set into place, bolt bumper onto bracket and tighten it down.

Loosen bolts that are mounted on the rear bumper but do not remove them. The rear bumper on trucks and SUVs are adjustable. Simply slide the bumper into the highest position and tighten the bolts. Tighten all bolts that mount the body of the vehicle to the frame. Ensure that all bolts and body lift bushings are in place to complete the installation.

Materials such as wood should not be used as body lift for trucks and SUVs to lessen your expenditures. This would be extremely unsafe. Parts of the automobile could get seriously damaged. Passengers and onlookers could get hurt or killed if this procedure is not done properly. Only use products that are specifically designed for its intended application to avoid getting into an accident.
